WF: In April 2005 you gave your WWE debut with your tag team partner "Romeo” at RAW.
How had the reactions, feeligs and resonances been in the backstage
area? A: Debuting in the WWE was a dream come true, especially to debut live on raw in
Madison Square Garden. I was overcome with emotion, especially after the match
having realized that my lifelong goal had just come true. The reaction from the
fans was great. Upon leaving the arena that night, there were hundreds of fans
outside who gave us words of encouragement and asked for autographs and
pictures-we were totally overwhelmed with the positive reaction we received.
WF: The "Heart Throbs" had a short run at WWE RAW, can you tell us why?
No ideas from the booking team or even no "friends" in the office? A: We were on Raw for 10 months, so it wasn't exactly a short run, but it was
nowhere near as long as we would have like to have been there. There is so much
that I want to accomplish in this business and there were many goals that I had
set for myself and as a team. I haven't achieved many of them, but im young,
always improving and look to one day soon be back achieving the goals I set for
myself. WF: Your
first "run" you startet as "heels", later you turned face – what did you prefer?
Do you like to be "bad", or do you like to be a "good" guy? A: I like working as both a heel and as a babyface. It keeps you well rounded and
enables you to work different styles and work with more teams than if you were
just primarily a face or a heel. Lou Thesz
said about the Heart Throbs: "These guys are double tough individuals who fight
to win every time they get in the ring. Everyone is envious of their gorgeous
teeth and wavy hair. But no one, I mean NO ONE would every doubt their
masculinity in any way!" What are your feelings when you hear this words and
have you ever met him? A: To have such kind words said about us by one of this sports all-time greats and
a true wrestling legend is truly an honor. I have never had the opportunity to
meet with him, but those kind words definitely ring true, every time we step
into the ring. Ok, lets talk about your future. A: The future for "the Promise" Antonio Thomas is definitely looking very
promising. I am in the best shape of my life, am working every week on the
independent scene and also practicing an additional 2-3 days a week to
continually improve and hone my craft. Im still very young in this business and
have so much that I need to and have to accomplish. Since my time in WWE, I have
worked harder than ever to get myself into the best shape of my life physically
and in the ring and will continue working a non-stop and continually busy
schedule in order to achieve both my short and long term goals in this great
business. WF: Romeo told
us in our last interview, that you have a lot things in common – what does he
think of? A: Romeo means that we have been through a lot together, both within this business
and in everyday life. We have known each other for over 4 years, well before our
time in WWE, and have practiced, trained, traveled and worked together before,
during, and after our time in WWE-he is the closest thing I have to a brother.
We have our ups and downs, but at the end of the day he is just like family. WF: After your time in the WWE you had matches with and against
Romeo. He said, that the fans were always on your side – also after WWE. What
will the future bring? A: For us, the future holds many more tag matches in which we will continually grow
and improve and mature in the ring as a team, as well as many singles matches.
We both want to keep as many options open as possible, thus the reason we are
doing singles and tagging- as well as because we love doing both. We will
continue to improve and hopefully, very soon, be able to display our talents on
a worldwide stage again. WF: Are you watching the shows of TNA and WWE on tv?
What is your opinon of the new ECW? A: I watch any and every wrestling show that is on. I have since I was 8 years old
and I always will. The more shows and promotions we have, the more options the
fans and workers have, which is better overall for the sport. WF: I think, you still have contact with
Romeo. What is he doing, how is he? A: Absolutely! We speak almost everyday. He is also staying busy and is in the best
shape of his life. We both plan on big things happening for us in the not so
distant future! WF: Killer Kowalski is your former
trainer. He is a legend and trained stars like Triple H and Chyna amoung others.
We don’t know, however, what a person he is. Can you tell us something about him
and the training? A: I actually started off for my first month or so at Killer Kowalskis. I then
started training(along with Romeo) under New England veteran Kevin Landry. I
then continued on with former WWE developmental standout Steve Bradley before
signing my WWE contract. Walter is a true legend in our sport and has helped and
trained countless workers throughout the years, especially here in New England.
If it weren't for Walter, the New England, and the wrestling landscape in
general, would not be the same. He is a kind and caring man who is always
willing to lend advice and keeps in contact and looks over his students to this
very day. WF: Is there anything you'd like to say to your german
fans? A: I just want to say a big THANK YOU for this interview and to all the fans in
Germany who have supported me throughout my career and who continue to still
do-I can't explain enough how much your support has meant to me!!! I will
continue to work harder than ever to improve and grow as a performer so I can
hopefully one day be able to perform in Germany in front of some of the greatest
wrestling fans in the world! You have definitely not seen the last of Antonio
Thomas-and that…is a PROMISE!!! WF: Thank you for the detailed interview and
a happy new year 2007.
THANK YOU for the interview and I wish you and all the fans of Germany the very
best for 2007!
