WF: First of all - thank you very much for this interview... Brent:
Anytime. Glad to have the opportunity to speak to my German fans.
WF: My
first Question is: How are you today? Brent: Tired. I arrived in New
York about 5:30am this morning. Drove in all night from Massachusetts. On a Ring
of Honor tour this weekend.
WF: The the most german Fans know you as
"Gunner Scott", a Wrestler from WWE SmackDown. Your Debut on April 7th was a
"Winning" surprise, not only (for Booker T). How are your feelings about this
day, the debut, the win? Brent: It was such a surreal experience. I
can't thank Booker enough for what he did for me then and later on. I only
learned I was being pulled up two days before the TV taping, so it was all just
"BAM, BAM, BAM." I felt the debut was well executed - I'm sure nobody around the
world expected this nobody to actually get the win over Booker. Great times.
WF: After 2 Months, the company send you back to Ohio Wrestling. All
Fans where shocked about this. We think you are a great performer. Can you say
something about Your last Smackdown Editionthis on June 30th - beforeyou (must)
returned to OVW? Brent: Well, there were a a lot of factors that led to
my return to OVW. First and foremost, I was supposed to be Benoit's protege and
he left injured 3 weeks into the angle. Left me with no storyline. They didn't
tell me I was going back to OVW until after the taping was complete, but I knew
as soon as I was told my role for the evening. I can't say anything bad about my
time at Smackdown. Do I wish things had worked out differently? Of course. But
it is what it is. I wouldn't count me out of the game just, yet.
WF: OK,
Chris Benoit is a great Wrestler. Some Fans didn`t know, why you "imitate" his
style for a while!? Brent: I was told by WWE management that my
character was to be Benoit's protege and that it would build to a later fued
with Benoit. My interpretation was that I should try to be similar to Benoit
since he supposedly trained me and eventually try to best him at him own game.
Unfortunately, the storyline never got off the ground. Once he left injured, my
story and therefore my character kind of stalled out. It kind of sucks because I
think that it would've been good TV.
WF: Can you tell us please, why it
is so difficult to become a interview with a wwe worker? Brent: When
you're under contract with WWE, the office has to approve any interviews.
Receiving that approval is difficult due to all the red tape.
WF: We
have a little Wrestling Community, and the fans become the chance, to ask the Wrestler
some questions. I hope this is ok for you and you can answered, so good as you
can? Brent: OK!
WF: "scab" from Hamburg (Germany) want to know, how
do you think about Chris Benoit? Brent: Benoit is one of the best
without a doubt. I'm a mat based wrestler (even before the Gunner Scott thing)
so his style is right up my alley.
WF: "Preussenfan" from Münster
(Germany): "Is it possible, to see you one time in Germany - German Stampede
Wrestling?" Brent: If you know how to contact the booker, please give
him my name. I'd welcome any opportunity to return to the area. Unfortunately, I
haven't received an invitation to date. I'd love to work there.
WF:
Markus from Rüthen (Germany): "Is it possible to see you once again in WWE or
did you have other plans in the near future?" Brent: Anything is
possible in WWE. Right now I'm focused on my work with Ring of Honor and
International Wrestling Cartel. I'm also trying to get back to Japan - I worked
with NOAH prior to signing with WWE. I still speak to WWE management just about
every week. Right now they are moving in one direction and I'm moving in
another. We'll see what the future holds.
WF:: "Eddie Guerrero"
(Switzerland): "How old are you, when you started with wrestling - training?"
Brent: I was 19 when I started training in Oklahoma under Rocco
Valentino, 20 when I moved to California to continue my training under Mike
Modest and Donovan Morgan, 25 when I was signed by WWE and I'm 28 now. I've got
a lot of years in me still!
WF: Daniel from Dreierwalde (Germany) wants
to know, "how do you think about TNA - A Opinion?" Brent: I honestly
haven't had extensive viewing of TNA. From what I've seen, they certainly have a
refreshing take on what fans want to see. I'd like to see the X Division really
take center stage again. I think that is their greatest asset, much like WCW
really pushed cruiserweights to a new level.
WF: "5 Questions" ask: What
is your Goal in the Pro-Wrestling Business?" Brent: I once read "One
must first set goals before achieving them. Furthermore, one must set small
goals on their way to achieving larger more ambitious goals. This in essence is
the formula for success in any aspect of life." Nothing could be more true. I
feel that goals are such a personal thing that I hesitate to really share much
about them. I will say that some of my "small goals" are: 1) Win ROH Heavyweight
Belt in 2007, 2) Reestablish myself in Japan, 3) Establish bookings in European
market
WF: The Fans are very happy, to do an interview with you! We too,
be sure! Brent: I love being able to communicate with my fans; I'd love
to hear back from them, too. I can be reached at shooteralbright@mail.com
WF: OK, Brent, here are another questions for you, hope you have fun?
Brent: Bring 'em on!
WF: In your carreer you had a lot of
Gimmicknames. One of that was "Smoke" oder "Vance Vain". What can you tell us
about the Name "Gunner Scott" and that Gimmik? Do you like it? Brent: When
I was first approached with the gimmick, I was asked to submit my ideas for
names. They specifically told me they didn't want to use my birth name, Brent
Albright. I turned in no less than 30 ideas. One was Scott Gunnar. They turned
it around and changed the spelling a bit (Gunner Scott). I'd been known as "The
Shooter" at OVW (something else they didn't care for) so I thought it would be
nice to keep something similar in my name (Gunner/Shooter), plus Undertaker has
a son named Gunner. I loved the gimmick (it was an idea Benoit and I actually
came up with together and had turned in about a year prior). I just wish it had
been allowed to play out to its full potential.
WF: Did you mean, that
you have us showed all of you by WWE? Brent: I wouldn't say my time with
WWE is definitely over. For now, I'm focused on reaching my "small goals"
(mentioned earlier) -- but I am still in constant contact with many people at
WWE, so who knows what will happen in the end?
WF: ON Ocober 27, you
gave ayour RoH Debut with a loss against Christopher Daniels. Christopher is a
sensation in the ring, isn`t he? Brent: Yes, he is. Christopher Daniels
has been a good friend of mine since my training early on in California. I truely
believe WWE is missing out on something great in Daniels.
WF: What do
you think about RoH and WWE now? Brent: They are very different products
aimed at very different markets. It is difficult to really compare them. WWE is
more for the masses -- it is "entertainment" based. ROH is more for a niche --
it is "wrestling" based. My style is certainly more wrestling based and
therefore a natural fit for me. Both are great and I am blessed to have been
associated with each.
WF: Do you have heroes, Faves from the Wrestling
Business ? Brent: I grew up like Hogan and The
Ultimate Warrior, of course. As I matured, I came to more appreciate guys like
Bret Hart, Chris Benoit, Shawn Michaels, Kurt Angle... I was an amateur wrestler
before my time as a pro wrestler, so I think that is why their styles appealed
to me so much.
WF: Wrestlingfever thank you very much for this truely
interview.. Brent: Thank you - without you guys, I wouldn't have a job!
WF: The last question is, did you have some words for the Fans from
Austria, Siwitzerland and germany? Brent: Thanks again for inviting me
to share my thoughts with you. I can't wait to return to the area and show you
guys what I can really do.
WF: We wish you the only the
best in your future, keep care! Brent: Thanks -- you, too!
